Navigating the First 100 Days

Supporting leaders to actively navigate the first 100 days in a new role or organisation — when they are still settling, and the reads are still forming.

What It Is

The first 100 days are when impressions form: how the leader reads the system, and how the system reads the leader.

Organisations usually support this window well in terms of logistics. The right introductions are made, the right meetings are arranged, and access to the right networks is provided. What’s often missing is the space to work through what those meetings reveal: what’s forming in the room before anyone says it, and which relationships and habits to build on purpose rather than by accident.

Navigation gives the leader that space. Day 0 is the time between the appointment being confirmed and the first day. Navigation starts there, with two priming sessions, then runs weekly through Day 100.

What We Work On

  • Getting clear on what the role needs, not just what was communicated.

  • Agreeing expectations with the sponsor, the team and the people who matter most to the leader’s success.

  • Reading the culture: the unwritten rules and where influence sits.

  • Building relationships with purpose.

  • Setting a leadership foundation: values, vision and working rhythm.

  • Capturing observations as they happen, so they feed the plan.

  • Catching the drift early, before assumptions and behaviours harden into patterns.

The first conversation is where it starts.

How It Works

Day 0

2 sessions after the appointment is confirmed and before Day 1 on the job, to prepare you for what’s to come and develop a plan and pace that sustain.

Day 1 to Day 100: weekly sessions.

The conversations follow what’s live. The structure, set in the first session, covers leadership vision and values, team dynamics, stakeholder relationships and an influence map.

Between sessions:

Access for the leader when something can’t wait. For sponsored engagements, HR leaders and sponsors also have access.

Alignment & progress:

In sponsored engagements, through three-way sessions at the start, midpoint, close, and when something shifts or drifts.

Day 100:

A closing session on how the leader has landed, what’s working, what still needs attention, and whether further support makes sense.

Format
1:1, three-way conversations, progress reviews, and access between sessions.

Best for
Leaders who are navigating a new role, function, or organisation.

Navigation is a complete engagement in itself. If a leader needs support beyond Day 100, it can be scoped separately before Navigation comes to a close.

The right conversation, early, changes what happens next.
